Make Up Your Mind! Are You A Network Marketer Or A TELE-Marketer?
…Okay, so my phone rings and it was a number that I didn’t recognize so usually when that happens it’s a lead or a customer calling. But not this time. No-oo, THIS time it was a guy who had found me online, decided I was a “good candidate” and picked up the phone to give me a call and pitch his business to me.
Now normally, had he just been like everyone else who does this form of “marketing” I could have turned the situation around in my favor but in this case, the guy admitted that he uses the same marketing/training system that I use – apparently this guy hasn’t been paying much attention to the training and lessons in that system or else he would have NEVER called me like that. He was trying to tell me how his program would be a perfect fit into said marketing system. Okay!
So as far as I’M concerned…this guy clearly takes on the role of Telemarketer!
I mean think about it, when you get called by a Telemarketer asking you to donate to a charity or asking you to sign up for a rewards program or whatever, doesn’t it totally ANNOY you…especially if they call at the wrong time?
So think about the last time YOU (well…hopefully NOT you) snagged someone’s information from the ‘net and decided to give them a call and pitch them with your opportunity or program. Think about how you came across to that individual.
Not only that, but think about the last time you called up a lead from a list you purchased. Unless that person SPECIFICALLY sent YOU their name, email address and phone number, then I don’t care how “hot” or “fresh” the company you got them from claims they are…they don’t know you and to them, you’re just another Telemarketer calling and annoying them. Now perhaps not in ALL cases, but I’d be willing to bet in most – ESPECIALLY if you don’t have good phone prospecting skills!
Make up your mind! Are you going to be a Network Marketer or a Telemarketer disguised as a Network Marketer? If YOU hate being bothered or interrupted by people who call you out of the blue, again, whether it’s about taking a phone survey, giving to a charity or…signing up for a business…then why on earth would YOU do it as a means of marketing?
I understand if it’s because you don’t know any better and 9 out of 10 most who do that don’t…and that’s the reason for this post!
Same thing goes for emailing. Most people hate getting spam. Yeah sometimes we just delete them without thinking twice about it, but sometimes we just get annoyed especially if it’s a lot. So if you hate that, then don’t spend money on and use those bulk emailing tools because that is precisely what they do…they SPAM people!
So again, the whole idea is to really stop and think about the methods you’re using to market your business and what they really do and if you come to find out they do things to other people that you KNOW you hate being done to you…then the wise thing to do would be to S – T – O – P doing it and learn how to effectively market and promote your business in such a way thatyou don’t take on the role of a Telemarketer!
Matter of fact, in a future blog post and/or video, I am going to go over the RIGHT way to use the phones because as I said, this is NETWORK Marketing and while we do most of what we do online, at some point you will have to pick up that phone and connect with your leads/prospects.
