Okay, so previously, I wrote about the issue of husbands controlling all of the household finances. Click here if you missed that one or need a refresher.
This is the promised continuation of that post.
So going back to what was previously stated in part one of this article…
It’s high time you sat down with your husband and had a nice, long, heart-to-heart talk.
Not an argument, but an adult-to-adult conversation and discussion and let him know that you feel it’s important that he give you more insight into how finances are handled.
Express to him your feelings and basically inform him that…
ANYTHING can happen and should, God forbid, anything ever happen to him:
- YOUR NAME needs to be on accounts
- you need to know how to handle the budget and the bills
- you need to know what bank(s) the mortgage is paid through and have access to that
Also, look into taking a class (physical or online) on finances and SHOW your husband that you’re just as capable of handling the family budget as he is… IF that’s the issue
I mean, even if you both mutually agree that he continue to handle paying everything, at LEAST allow you to be in the know.
And if all else fails…
I ain’t playin’… I’m SERIOUS! As Sweet Brown said…
Listen, making the decision to have a home-based business was one of THE BEST decisions I could have ever made for myself and quite possibly for my marriage because there are no more arguments about money going on in our house.
No, my income doesn’t pay the mortgage and all of the bills (yet) BUT…I have the money I need to:
- buy what I want or need to buy…
- pay for things my kids need for school or…
- get Christmas gifts and even…
- pay my own airfare for my out-of-state business trips
Now if you are in a situation where your husband is controlling, again, this is something much deeper that needs to be addressed because worst case scenario, he may even try to prevent you from getting started in a business or try to take the money you make. So once more… you may wish to consider counselling or getting help for your marriage in some form or fashion.
But if your marriage is GOOD in most areas, but you just have this one issue with household finances, then by all means… do the things I listed above in the bullets and strongly consider making your own money.
There are a lot of things you can do to make money from home but let me just keep it real here, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t biased and that I didn’t want you to…
Just imagine what it would be like to start making your own money to keep in your own bank account and then click the link above and consider partnering with me in business!'Til next time... bye for now!
